Secretary Report                                                                                                 Janis Stewardson

As I complete my first year as Secretary on the APSSP Executive, I reflect back on what a busy year it has been for our Executive and what a great learning experience it has been for me personally.

As Secretary I participated in the Fall APSSP Educational Weekend where I met other APSSP members and discussed issues with other Chapter Secretaries. During the year I attended Board Meetings which increased my understanding of the current issues facing our Board as it operates, under the Provincially appointed Supervisor. I was proud to hear our concerns so clearly presented by our APSSP Executive at significant public forums over the Fall, Winter and Spring of this school year. It reinforced my opinion on the importance of having a strong APSSP Executive to represent our interests and concerns, particularly in these times of change.  I also participated in meetings and discussions about the OPA Board project and the Provincial PSSP research project. These were good opportunities to ask questions and to voice any concerns from an APSSP perspective.

As your Secretary I continue to be responsible for taking the minutes at our monthly Executive meetings, for keeping our membership directory up to date and for communicating any membership changes to our Provincial Secretary.

You are reminded to inform me if you do have a change in address so that I can ensure that you continue to receive all important APSSP communications.

I feel privileged to be a member of our Executive, and have been impressed by the dedication and knowledge demonstrated by our Executive members. I look forward to serving my second year as Secretary and will continue to work on behalf of the best interest of all APSSP members.
