Our Story

The Association of Professional Student Services Personnel (APSSP) is a union that represents over 850 school based professionals across 10 Catholic and Public School Boards. As school board employees, our members are located in schools and work collaboratively with teachers, resource staff, students, families, and other community agencies.

Since 1975, APSSP has provided strong leadership that has focused on enhancing recognition of the professional and workplace status of the membership, while at the same time advocating for the needs of the students and families that we serve.

Built on a solid foundation of more than 40 years of experience, we respond constructively to continuing system-wide changes in the education sector in Ontario. Our members provide assessment, counselling and other direct services to students who have academic, behavioural, learning, speech/language and mental health challenges that hinder their ability to succeed in school.

In addition, our expertise is integral to strengthening the home and school connection, as well as maintaining liaisons with agencies that support the safety and well being of students.
